We are seeking a Mechanical Lead to spearhead a diverse team responsible for the maintenance of equipment, ranging from routine servicing to complete overhauls. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary starting at £38,000 and going up to £45,000, depending on your experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Prior supervisory experience within a mechanical, fabrication, or marine setting is advantageous for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executing engineering work packages
- Planning and scheduling work packages for engineering projects
- Leading a team of both Industrial and Non-Industrial Trades, responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, testing, and commissioning
- Executing projects in accordance with current processes and suggesting improvements to enhance productivity
- Overseeing subcontractor work packages when necessary, including reviewing the quality of the delivered output
Skills and Experience for the Mechanical Lead Role:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the mechanical, fabrication, or marine engineering sectors
- Proficiency in leading and developing a team of Trades resources, engaging with senior stakeholders, and generating reports as needed
- Expertise in working with defined work packages, collaborating with Project Engineering teams to ensure clear task definitions and planning before guiding your team to successful completion
- Proven experience in executing maintenance procedures, developing risk assessments, creating method statements, COSHH assessments, and Safe Systems of Work, complemented by exceptional team leadership skills
Qualifications for Mechanical Lead Role:
- Recognized Mechanical or Marine Engineering Apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent NVQ and C&G) or an HNC and higher in a Mechanical Engineering field, supported by industry experience
- An IOSH qualification would be advantageous but is not mandatory
