Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide innovative solutions for complex electrical design challenges.
- Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive defect correction, process improvements, and engineering changes.
- Create, update, maintain, and control technical documentation related to electrical engineering.
- Generate technical reports and contribute to decision-making processes based on their findings.
- Develop design concepts for analysis, presentations, and project discussions.
- Perform specialized analysis and calculations to validate design integrity.
- Participate in project design reviews, assess design costs, and establish realistic lead times for design activities.
- Provide clear design instructions to facilitate the creation of engineering drawings and other deliverables.
- Assist in assembling and testing prototype equipment before final engineering work.
Skills and Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer:
- MEng, BEng (Hons) degree, or substantial industry experience.
- Extensive expertise in control systems design, including the use of PLC (programmable logic controllers) and experience with industrial automation network interfaces (Profibus, CANbus, Ethernet, etc.).
- Knowledge of IEC 61508 applied to programmable systems in critical applications.
- Proficiency in electrical design, especially with DC systems.
- Experience in cable, connector, and penetrator selection.
- Competence in designing and commissioning HV and LV electrical systems, along with associated calculations.
- Design proficiency in power distribution systems.
- Specification, selection, and management of traction battery systems up to a capacity of 150 kWh.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems design for EMC compliance.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Electrical) for creating GA, SLD, interconnection drawings, and BOMs.
- Ensure designs adhere to relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations, and Procedures (Lloyds, DNV, IEC, IMCA, etc.).
- Familiarity with international Quality and Safety Standards (ISO 9001, 45001, etc.).
- Experience in industries such as oil and gas, marine, defense, naval, and subsea is advantageous.
