We are seeking a Buyer for our international engineering client. This is a permanent position based in Renfrewshire, offering hybrid working between office/home. You will be a Procurement professional with ERP Systems Expertise having worked in either Engineering, Marine, or Subsea environments. Salary negotiable by experience plus benefits, healthcare, pension etc
Responsibilities as a buyer will include
- End-to-End Procurement Management: Oversee all procurement activities related to sub-contract and supplier work packages. This includes the creation of detailed RFQs, comprehensive purchase orders, and ensuring alignment with project scope and deliverables.
- Operations Support: Provide operational support to management and the team, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances overall project success.
- Supplier Management: Take the lead in supplier management, utilizing your negotiation skills to enhance service, manage risks, and establish effective Service Level Agreements.
- Strategic Supply Initiatives: Champion the review, development, and implementation of supply strategies and purchasing methodologies to boost productivity and efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with and report to surrounding departments to ensure seamless coordination and alignment with overall business needs.
- New Supplier Evaluations: Conduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers, identifying key strengths and weaknesses in alignment with business requirements.
- Technical Competence: Utilize your working knowledge and competence in interpreting technical drawings and translating technical requirements.
- ERP Systems Expertise: Leverage your proficiency in ERP systems to streamline and optimize procurement processes.
- Project Support: Provide crucial support to Project Managers and Engineers throughout the purchasing process.
- Liaison with Suppliers: Maintain effective communication with suppliers, addressing outstanding orders, material-related issues, and ensuring timely deliveries.
Qualifications required for the buyer position:
- Previous Procurement Experience: Proven track record in a supply chain or procurement role.
- Project Management: Experience in handling fast-paced cross-functional projects.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, coupled with the ability to drive delivery efficiency and innovation.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial, sourcing, and contract negotiation skills.
- Procurement Knowledge: In-depth understanding of strategic procurement techniques and processes.
- ERP Systems Proficiency: Experience in using ERP systems.
- Technological Skills: Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office suite.
